Born during the height of the Civil Rights Movement to sharecropper parents, Carl's journey began when his young mother courageously left the segregated South with nothing but a bus ticket and a two-month-old baby in her arms.

Despite early challenges, including a speech impediment, Carl's brilliant mind and his mother's unwavering support drove him to excellence. His remarkable journey includes:

  • Distinguished military service with two successful tours of duty
  • Advanced degrees in Biochemistry and Analytical Chemistry
  • Studies at Hahnemann School of Medicine
